May 17, 2007 - Part 2
This is part two of the three poems written on May 17, 2007.
These two short poems as, along with That Name were composed while I was processing a breakup. They were never shared or published.
I decided to share them here, translated into English and slightly revised, because I can feel the beauty and the vulnerability of that moment. They offer me a glimpse of the gifts that can emerge from the pain of loving and loosing.
Poem I
What I get to keep:
a collection of kisses and “I love yous”
that will turn to wind and travel the world.
Poem II
I gave love a space at my core. In return, it has gifted me madness, a thousand farewells, and the strength to meet my fears. The crushing weight of absence leads me to seek shelter in the corner of the couch and page 33 of the book of death. The utter denial of my wounds can’t stop the crystal tears as they turn to jewels on my cheek. I don’t seek the spell of windows to forget the pain. I walk beside it, as one walks beside an old, wise teacher who speaks of freedom and growth. I understand, but it hurts.
